Corporate Chic: A visit to J's wardrobe

Hello, chicas!

We'd like to thank our reader, J, for submitting this series of photos for this week's Corporate Chic. J is our reader from Australia and she works as an accountant in a privately owned firm. I shall speak no more and let you feast your eyes on these amazinggg photos.

White tank top (Esprit)
Faint pink belted cardigan (MNG)
Patterned leggings (ASOS)
Pink laced up loafers (Korean blogshop on YesStyle.com)
It is very true that when you enter the working world, the Monday blues bugs are attached to you immediately and they never leave you till the day you retire. Hmmm, might not be true for certain people though. I tend to think that artsy people (eg. interior designers, photographers) love their jobs. Ok, back to J, she told us that she usually avoids wearing black on Mondays to get rid of her Monday blues and make her day brighter.

Mesh & satin dress (Vera Moda)
Cream & orange suede pumps (Vincci)
A simple dress is always the perfect way to go when you're feeling a little lazy to play mix and match.
Black sweater top (Calvin Klein)
High waisted belted pencil skirt (Forever New)
Black stilettos (Diavolina)
Wednesday's outfit was more formal for J had meetings with clients so she's stuck with the usual black attire that can never go wrong.

Black & white striped long sleeves shirt (Korean blogshop on Gmarket)
Dark navy cargo pants (Ralph Lauren Jeans)
Leather belt (MNG)
Tan oxfords (UrbanOutfitters.com)
You tend to feel a little excited on Thursday as weekend is fast approaching. Here, J settled for something less formal.
White tank top (Country Road)
Blue striped blazer (ZARA)
Pleat-front shorts (Country Road)
Leather belt (MNG)
Tan wedges (Wittner)
TGIF! Time for a more relaxed outfit so J threw on a pair of shorts. I must say that I absolutely love that pair of wedges. Actually, I love every pair of her shoes!
Don't you all just LOVE these pictures? You all have to agree with me that she has a great sense of style! J must be secretly doing a part time job as a supermodel! Well, I'm glad J sent us these photos because accoutants are often stereotyped as dull but J proved this statement FALSE!

Corporate Chic III

Hey,

Hope you guys aren't bored of our corporate chic posts by now cause i'll be sharing another one. I actually blogged about what's appropriate for office wear and what's not here. Time really flies and already i'm in the work force but here's a little confession: i still don't have the slightest clue what i should wear to work. haha.

Like M, I am also an engineer. Like her, I have an office job and i spend my entire day in front of the computer running simulations and what not. Luckily i'm working in a pretty casual office. You would never ever see anyone in a suit and you will see a few people in jeans even on days other than casual fridays. But I like dressing up, so I do enjoy looking for nice clothes to wear. But at the same time since I'm pretty new to the job I keep to safe items like structured work dresses and buttoned shirts with skirts.

Monday

First day of the week. As usual, there's the slight monday blues as the weekends are never long enough! But to brighten up my day, i'm wearing a new dress that i just bought over the weekend. I'm attempting to add more colour into my pretty dull looking wardrobe and yes, many of you are probably thinking that the dress is gray and not exactly very brightly coloured but there are tinges of pink! haha. It counts to me! Anyway, got this dress at Dressing Paula (which i just discovered btw and i must say i'm loving their clothes! I think there's only one branch in KL which is in Sunway Pyramid. So do drop by and have a look see!)

Tuesday

Decided to go for a simple shirt + skirt combo today. I'm wearing a buttoned shirt from Dorothy Perkins and a high waisted pencil skirt from Seed. Bought the skirt recently during Isetan member's day (i work in KLCC so there's nothing better than going crazy in Isetan during my long friday lunch break. hehe). And i actually got the skirt for 50% off which is pretty great and i'm loving the skirt! Have been wearing it every week since i got it.

Wednesday
Another simple work dress. The dress is also a recent purchase (i'm starting to feel a bit embarrassed as it seems that most of my clothes are recent purchases. if that is not a clear sign that i'm a hopeless shopaholic what is??). Anyway, got the dress during my recent trip to Singapore in this random shop in Wisma Atria. Can't remember the name and again I LOVE IT!!! hehe.

Thursday
Another work dress! This is the dress that i usually wear when i'm feeling LAZY!! It's very comfy (cause it's actually one size bigger. hehe). So i usually just throw it on when i'm feeling sluggish. and by thursday i'm usually a bit sluggish. haha. But i must admit that i look a bit sloppy when i'm wearing this dress as it is bigger but it's still formal enough i guess. Anyway, the dress is by fashionlab which i also purchased from Isetan during member's day.

Friday
Casual fridays!! On casual fridays i would usually take out my floral dresses. Hehe. Here i'm wearing a floral dress that i purchased from Double woot ages ago! One of my fav dresses as it's very comfy and looks good!

And writing this post makes me realize that i'm one of those people who remember tiny details about each of my purchases. Haha. I think you can just randomly pull out a dress from my closet and i will tell you all about its history, from where i got it to how much i paid for it.

Anyway, I'm just going to echo my fellow blogmates and urge all of you to let us know what you wear to work!

Whitesoot

Couldn't resist to share this gorgeous dress from Whitesoot's latest update.

Love how it's formal enough to wear to work, and yet it could be very well be worn for a dinner or for even a gossip session at starbucks. I'm just so in love with this piece; loving both the design and the colour!!
Unfortunately for me, the dress is catered for sizes UK8-10 which means that it probably won't be as body-fitting as I would prefer it to be. Sadly, I guess I won't be the lucky owner of this piece..

Available in black as well.

Its that time of the year....

when the teens start to go off to their year 12 balls. ahhh memoriessss

And have you all read the recent Corporate chiq? Its pretty cool and I find it really convenient because I often run out of ideas what to wear to work. Worst case scenario, just accessorize and you will still dazzle your colleagues in those long meetings and workshops.

Okay, back to proms/balls. I started doing my research and apparently there are HEAPS of it on ebay. Unfortunately, most of the nice dresses that I like required a postage of $450.

Then, what method was most effective, word of mouth of course! I asked around and most mentioned an online shop called ASOS. After much searching, I actually found a few good bargains. I tell you its the perseverence ladiessss!! The greatest bonus of all, shipping is free!! I kid you not!!!

Here are the few good ones I saw. They are absolutely gorgeous. More for evening wear rather than a ball but it still looks awesome (***note prices in AUD***):

A$68.50
NOW A$37.85

A$270.38
NOW A$135.19
 ASOS Mesh Waterfall Bandeau Dress
A$68.50
NOW A$28.84

And best of all, they cater for the petite, curvy and pregnant. I love how somebody understands ta woman's needs. Plus, judging by the contrast of colour in the material, it looks comfortable and for a price like that, it is soooo worth it.

If you wish to have a more 'princessy' ball and decide to splurge a little ( and after all, it's your big day so why not!! =) ), I did come across a few like these, which I thought were fantastic from TarvyDas. Absolutely breathtaking. These can be ideas of your future weddings to any of you lucky ladies out there (***note prices in AUD***) :

A$598

Then you have the ones that are simple yet ultimately shows off the figure, for A$395

Another reasonable site I saw (with a postage of US$29 to Perth), are Dresses Online. Originally from America, I would say their style is superbly diversified. Plus, the wonders of the quality (***note prices in US***):

From left to right,  DQ8034-Formal Gown, A-10017 , and N3042

All just US$99!! Talk about great savings. It doesn't end there. There's always that 'sales' button we all love.

 From left to right, IVORY-GOLD-XL (US$49), PURPLE-SIZE-10 (US$49) and IVORY-MEDIUM (US$39)

Yup so that's all for today my lovely girlfriends. If you have any ideas where to shop for ballgowns around Australia, tell us!!! We are always open to ideas and suggestions.

Finally, have a greatttt weekend and I think I hear the beach calling my name. woohoo!

Love, K.
